Sweets

This past weekend Hallie and I went to my sister, Monica's, baby shower. I made these brownies and my mom's best friend who hosted the shower made these roasted banana cupcakes with honey cinnimon frosting. They were so good! I'm not a huge banana fan-- I love them plain and also banana nut bread, but not a fan of banana pudding, banana split sundaes, etc. These were delicious! So after realizing I had the Martha Stewart Cupcake book that they came from, I had to whip some more up. They also were not very hard to make. Try them!

Latest Fad!

These rubber bands that keep their shape are a HUGE fad down in Arizona. Hallie is going crazy for Silly Bandz in first grade, as well as my little sister who is in junior high! They are loved by all of the kids and they are trading like crazy! ALL, and I mean ALL, the stores have them and are selling like hotcakes! They are pretty fun and saw on the Silly Bandz website how many there are! No wonder the kids love them!

24 Hr Change of Plans

Last weekend was the last weekend that Drew and I would have to ourselves before my clinicals start back up so Friday morning I woke up and made hotel reservations for him and I while my sister and her husband graciously watched the kids. We stayed at the Arizona Biltmore Resort, one of the oldest resorts in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I love this time of year because there are hundreds of deals on hotels since the heat is almost unbearable. The Arizona Biltmore has roomed every president up to George Bush and was where John McCain had his final presidential party, annoucing his defeat. Its history is pretty interesting, going back to the 1930's with Marilyn Monroe sunbathing by the pool.

We had a great time being lazy sitting by the pool, enjoying some awesome food, grabbing some of Drew's favorite yogurt, and seeing a double rainbow after an Arizona evening monsoon. The Best!!
